Each semester, the student life staff works to design activities that will foster community and provide refreshing “down-time” outside the intense classroom experience.
To assist those who need to plan out-of-town travel during their semester, students will receive a tentative activity calendar upon their arrival at FLI. This calendar is subject to change, but should help students to partake in as many community activities as possible. If you need to make plans prior to the semester, please contact us. Our student life staff can share a tentative calendar with you.
Opening Retreat – This includes worship, get to know you times, fun games and lots of laughter! (All semesters)
Ski Trip – We take a full day and head for the mountains. Beginners love learning to ski or snowboard together and more experienced skiers love a day on the slopes! (Fall/Spring)
Small Groups – Usually led by FLI staff, Focus on the Family Staff, or FLI Alumni, weekly small groups cover a host of topics and provide an opportunity to connect with other community members and dig deeper into God’s Word. Each student is able to pick which small group (if any) to be involved in. (All Semesters)
Family Dinners – A weekly time when faculty and staff bring their families and share a meal—and their lives—with students. (All semesters)
Chapel – Once per month, Focus on the Family holds a ministry-wide chapel service, and students are invited! This is a great opportunity for you to worship with the larger Focus family. (All semesters)
Barn Dance – An evening of square dancing, line dancing, fun costumes, games and a cook-off. (Fall)
Women’s Retreat – A day long retreat of rest and renewal in a beautiful setting for the ladies of FLI. (All semesters)
Carless Drive-In – A night of movies in the great indoors. (All semesters)
Q&A with Focus on the Family’s administration – This is a time for you to get to know some of the leadership at Focus on the Family and ask leadership questions. (All Semesters)
White Water Rafting – A day of bonding on the Arkansas river! We start with a picnic lunch and then hit Brown’s Canyon, where you’ll brave class 2-4 rapids with the help of an experienced guide. (Summer)
Sporting Events – We gather as a community to watch the Super Bowl and NCAA Championship games, complete with contests, prizes and great food. (Spring) Or, we make the trek to Denver to watch the Rockies play live. (Summer)
