Robert Thomason

Robert Thomason serves as FLI’s Senior Fellow for Gender and Leadership Studies. Robert team-teaches with his wife Elena.

Where did you grow up? How did that experience shape who you are today?
I grew up on a ranch just east of
Ardmore, Oklahoma. One thing that shaped me was the importance of family. My parents had great impact upon my life. Whether it was the manners that my mother drilled into me or the example of masculinity my father provided, I will forever be branded by their influence.

Where is your dream vacation destination?
I have five vacations that I want to take. First, I would live to visit
Israel. Next, I desire to spend some time in Australia and New Zealand. I would like to do both a northern European and a Southern European trips. Finally, I would like to tour around the Caribbean. I do not want to visit any of these places without my wife by my side.

Morning person or night person?
Both

What is your favorite thing about your family?
There is really no one thing, but a host of things I love about my family. I love how hospitable my family is. I love how my wife makes me strive to be a better man. I love how my children run to the door when I arrive home to hug me.

How does your time as a student at the Institute continue to impact your life today?
Where do I begin? I believe God used my time here as an intellectual awakening.  I began dreaming bigger dreams, thinking bigger thoughts, and serving God with greater purpose. God used the Focus Institute to raise my expectations of myself and broaden my perspectives. I became more focused on the spiritual realities and less concerned with material cares. I became a man. And one more thing, I met the most amazing woman at the Institute and God blessed me with the opportunity to make her my wife.
